We’ve missed Chas Dingle as actress Lucy Pargeter took a break from the show to have her twin girls but it seems that Chas has missed her best friend and former love Paddy Kirk even more!
Chas Dingle is back from Ireland this week and makes a beeline for her on-off fella Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). But can they actually make things work this time and what will Paddy say when he finds out Chas had a fling while in the ’emerald isle’. Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter reveals all!
Did you enjoy your maternity leave?
“Yes, I really enjoyed the challenge of looking after my twin girls. I had to come back, though. I don’t think anybody should be off screen for too long as you never know who is going to take your place! It is a bit of a struggle managing to fit in everything at home and work but, to be honest, it is a little bit of an escape from the madness!”
And now Chas is back!
“Yes. Liv’s mum is better now, so Chas is ready to go back to work at The Woolpack.”
How will she get on with Charity at the pub?
“Chas will try and reign her in as she is a law unto herself and I am surprised she was left in charge of the pub. They have got a brilliant love-hate relationship. They will have some spats I am sure but it will go back to what it was.”
Why is Chas all over Paddy?
“Paddy and Chas had decided to call it quits before she went away. And she’s had time to get over him by getting under another man – but it didn’t work. All it did is confirm her feelings for Paddy. So once she gets back to the village, she jumps on him with great vigour and he responds!
“Paddy brings out the comedic side in Chas’s character, which I’m enjoying playing. It makes a change from the doom and gloom. It’s a great dynamic and he’s also a substitute dad for Aaron, so that family unit is stronger when they’re together too.”
But how will Paddy feel about the other man?
“There’s no reason why Chas would have told him. And she certainly hasn’t done it out of malice. He might be put out if he hears about it from another source, though…”
What can we expect for Chas’s future?
“Much the same… Stuff with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins). Chas will be dipping into everybody’s storyline. Being in the pub is like being at gossip central!”
