Who’s Getting Married in Emmerdale?
After teasing a festive wedding, Emmerdale has finally revealed which couple will be walking down the aisle over Christmas – only said Dingle doesn’t know it!
“Marlon is Jessie’s knight in shining armour,” actress Sandra Marvin tells the TV Times. “And she thinks, ‘Do you know what? Life’s too short! I’m going to prove to him how much I love him!’
“Jessie first asks Marlon’s daughter April for her permission to marry her dad, and it’s April’s idea for the pair to get married at Christmas and they set about planning the surprise with Jessie’s son Ellis too. April and Ellis are really gung ho about it.”
Marlon and Jessie haven’t had the easiest of times since they finally got together. As always, Marlon fell head over heels for the teacher who was still a little raw from losing her first husband who died and an abusive relationship.
They’ve also had to deal with Jessie’s son Ellis showing up which also revealed that Jessie has a second son called Billy who is currently in prison. With Billy’s sentence coming to an end, it must only be a matter of time before the village gets a new bad boy.
“It would be nice to see them make a go of things, because Marlon has had so many ups and downs,” Sandra adds. “As much as he wants to be with someone, he also wants a family unit around April – and that’s what this is all about.
“And I think Jessie would slot in well into the Dingle family. She definitely has the strength of the Dingle women. Jessie Dingle… who’d have thought it?”
Christmas weddings don’t have the greatest track record in Emmerdale – Chas Dingle ditched Carl King on their Christmas Day wedding, while Andy and Katie Sugden had to endure Bernice Blackstock trying to steal the groom and Robert Sugden sabotaging the rings on their big day. So don’t expect Jessie and Marlon’s wedding to go without a hitch!
