Marlon and Paddy’s Big Adventure!
The Emmerdale cast and crew have flown to Northern Ireland for the filming of the teased special featuring Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle that is due to air in the spring.
Members of the Emmerdale cast and crew have started filming in Belfast for a special that will air in the spring which centres around Dales favourites Paddy Kirk, played by Dominic Brunt, and Marlon Dingle, playing by Mark Charnock.
Pictures on Emmerdale’s instagram stories showed Dominic Brunt and Mark Charnock with co-stars Sandra Marvin, who plays Marlon’s wife Jessie Dingle, and Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt.
The pictures showed filming happening outside the beautiful Belfast City Hall and in the Cathedral Quarter. The 40-strong cast and crew will be filming in the area until Thursday, with visits planned to tourist hot spots in Belfast, a seaside town on the Co Down coast and even a peace wall.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Mark Charnock said: “The scripts are brilliant. It’s one of those when you open it up and just know how it’s going to work, it’s an absolute dream.”
Mark added that heading out on location was always a treat: “We’ve only been here 36 hours, but we already feel we’re being drawn into the city. People here are ace, a really good gang, and they’ve made us feel so welcome.”
According to reports, two more stars will join the foursome during their trip but its not clear if they will be other Emmerdale regulars such as Paddy’s partner Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) or if this could be where Amy Wyatt is reunited with her mum Kerry, having recently announced the character’s return.
Another character bound to be play a part in the Irish adventure is newcomer Bear Wolf, played by Joshua Richards, who is suspected to be Paddy’s biological father. The wrestler joins Emmerdale in the coming weeks having yet to make his screen debut in the soap.
Producer Kate Brooks revealed Bear’s involvement when the casting was announced, saying: “It proves quite the adventure when Paddy and Marlon track Bear down in Belfast as Paddy’s life is turned upside down by boisterous Bear. However, Bear isn’t the only familiar face our villagers find in Belfast…”
The Belfast Newsletter also spoke to Kate on location, who said that having lived in Belfast herself for a time, she wanted to really promote the city through the episodes which are due to air on March 7 and 8 although the air date has not been confirmed by Emmerdale.
Kate added: “In Belfast we’re going to the peace wall, the Titanic museum. We’re very keen to make the most of what the city has to offer. It will paint Northern Ireland in a lovely light. It’ll be a really fun couple of episodes.”
