Robert Sugden’s day in court

After a short spell on the run, Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle are facing a future apart after Robert sacrificed himself so Aaron could stay with sister Liv and his family.

Aaron and Robert or ‘Robron’ as they are known, went on the run after hearing the news that rapist Lee Possner had died after suffering a bleed on his brain. With Robert Sugden already pleading guilty to GBH with intent to save sister Victoria having to lie for him, the couple know their days were numbered. It was Aaron’s sister Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) who suggested Aaron and Robert leg it while they had the chance.

Aaron and Robert said a quick goodbye and then waited it out in a remote cottage until cousin Mandy Dingle turned up with fake IDs. However, Liv had stowed away and, after hearing a distraught Aaron explain all the reasons why Liv couldn’t go with them, you could see Robert was hatching a plan.

As Aaron went to collect some money off Chas and Paddy, the police sped past and Robert ultimately handed himself in to make sure Aaron could ‘live his best life’.

Husband Aaron (Danny Miller) is now beside himself with grief over their shared future and is already hatching a plan to break the love of his life out of prison.

This coming week will see Robert due in court with the charge now changed to murder. But how will Robert plead? His solicitor is encouraging him to plead guilty. Or will Aaron’s plan to stop him going to prison work?

With actor Ryan Hawley leaving the show, Robron’s future looks bleaker than ever. And while its still unclear when we’ll see Robert on screen for the final time, we know there’s plenty of heartbreak to come as in a recent interview, actor Danny Miller said: “There was a very emotional scene when I speak to him for the first time when he’s in prison, and at that point I realised it was real and this is actually happening and there were some genuine tears. We’ve been very close Ryan and I over the past four years. It won’t be the same without him but the show goes on and we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Aaron…”

Don’t miss Robert’s day in court on Thursday 24th Oct at 7pm on ITV.
