Forget Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the biggest wedding of 2018 is the legal union of Robron. So with two weeks until Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden make it official, here’s everything we know about the Robron wedding… so far!
It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for the Robron wedding, having been promised it for so long. Some began to doubt Robron would ever make it legit as summer came. Well fret no more as Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden’s wedding has been filmed and the media was there to see vows exchanged.
So what do we know so far…
The Robron wedding is scheduled to take place on Friday 5th October according to the posters in the village that were seen on the Emmerdale Studio Experience village tour.
It’s a truly village event as the wedding was filmed in the purpose built set with bunting outside the Woolpack as well as around the village hall.
We can’t see Robron getting married in church and they’ve used the garage already so our money is on the wedding being somewhere in the village – maybe in the beautiful garden at Robron’s Home Mill Cottage. If you’ve been lucky enough to see it close up you know it’s a great location and certainly has enough room for all the Dingles and Sugdens to convene.
There’s also the Village Hall although the last wedding held there didn’t end so well. But the grounds around the outside of the village hall could be a possible location.
We do know, from leaks posted on social media by the extras, that scenes have also been filmed in the Woolpack and there is a band, a DJ and the usual ‘friends of the grooms’ that we have never seen before, and aren’t likely to see again.
The media were invited to attend the filming of the Robron wedding in the village and were all sworn to secrecy but a source did tell us that the whole event is ‘a celebration of Robron’s love and history.’
The script is written by Maxine Alderton, who also wrote the fan favourite’s first wedding as well as some of the key moments in their relationship.
In true ‘Queen Maxine’ style, expect nods to Robron’s history, smaller details that die hard fans will surely scream over and watch out for a romantic moment that even knocks cocky Robert Sugden for six.
The other snippets we have come from the actors involved in the Robron wedding.
Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, took to Emmerdale’s Facebook page, teasing that he was working on ‘something very special.’
He said: “Good afternoon to all you Emmerdale fans, Danny Miller here. “I’m just in the Emmerdale village and we’re filming something very special, let me show you… ”
He then panned very swiftly to his surrounding area, which was by the playground area, next to the Village Hall, before focussing the camera back to himself.
“Ah got you!” he said. “You’ll have to wait until October.”
We did see that Aaron is wearing a navy blue waistcoat with a white shirt and maroon red tie though. The navy theme is followed through the order of service that was teased on Emmerdale’s social media pages.
Actor Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert Sugden, told Metro.co.uk at the TV Choice Awards: “It’s a moment in the show that seems quite seldom – people are happy! It’s great to be part of an episode that seems to have a full stop to it and concludes itself within half an hour. Hopefully the fans will enjoy it and enjoy seeing a happy ending for Robert and Aaron – for now!”
When asked if is there a pressure on the cast and crew to meet what must be very high expectations, he added: “There’s not really much that we can do outside of trying to tell the story to the best of our abilities – that’s not just the actors but everyone in the building. Hopefully, we’re giving people what they want – obviously you feel a responsibility to the audience who tune in every night and it’s a big part of their lives. We all really enjoy our job and hope the audience enjoy watching it.”
While Isobel Steele, who plays Aaron’s younger sister Liv Flaherty, and ‘best person’ for the event, told Inside Soap: ‘We’ve recently been filming the wedding and I think the fans are going to be very pleased with the result. There are a few little details in the episode that I think they’ll really enjoy, with some cute moments that they’ll pick up on and get into. The big day has been so long awaited, so I’m sure that it isn’t going to disappoint!”
We also know Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) will be Robert’s best woman, while step-mum Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) will walk him down the aisle. Aaron will have mum Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) by his side along with sister Liv.
At first, it seemed the wedding would be part of Super Soap Week, given that several storylines including Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk’s baby heartbreak will come to fruition around that time. However, our sources tells us that the drama filled week is merely the warm up for what’s to come – hence the tagline ‘So it begins…”
