Emmerdale Spoilers: Whilst speculation is rife over who dies later this week in Emmerdale, Jeff Hordley and cast members let slip a major character is set to return for a brand new storyline that has never been tackled by the soap before.
With all eyes on Thursday’s Emmerdale double bill which will see one villager meet their maker, whispers of a character returning had gone quiet until the cast were interviewed by Express.co.uk at the BAFTA TV Awards, where they teased more about the upcoming storyline.
Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona Goskirk, confirmed the comeback rumours, pointing at her co-star and real-life husband Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, and saying: “Yes that’s your department… possibly.”
Jeff replied: “Yes, that possibly is my department. But that’s very exciting though, that’s all I can say on that. I can’t say much more than that. It’s slightly emotional.”
Sally Dexter, who stars as Cain’s on-screen mother Faith Dingle, chipped in: “As ever, I do my best to help but sometimes that falls on deaf ears.”
Jeff laughed: “Yes mother does stick her oar in on this one, not to great effect.”
Charlotte Bellamy, who stars as Laurel Thomas, noted: “It’s a very brave storyline isn’t it?” as Sally added: “Yes, it’s really good.”
Zoe then dropped a major bombshell for viewers, saying: “Emmerdale haven’t touched upon this before at all.”
Jeff smiled: “Nope, it’s good, as Sally agreed: “It’s something which is new and needs telling, so it’s good.”
So who could it be???
Anything ‘slightly emotional’ for Cain Dingle is bound to involve ‘Coira’, and include his wife Moira, played by Natalie J Robb. Could it be that her son-on-the-run Adam Barton is returning already after sailing off into the sunset earlier this year? Maybe Moira’s daughter Hannah is finally going to show her face after six years away from Emmerdale, including missing her older sister’s funeral…
But given Faith sticks her oar in, could it be from Cain’s past – be it family, friend or foe? Cain has two other half-siblings, one being Tina Dingle, who reeked havoc in Emmerdale in the mid 1990s, and the other being Nathan, who we’ve never actually met. Could they come to fill the void in the Dingle family left by Lisa’s absence?
What about foes? Cain’s not short of them! Could Sadie King be returning be it for revenge or with Cain Junior in tow? And for no other reason than he was one of our favourites, wouldn’t it be great if his arch enemy Nathan Wylde was heading back to the Dales. Lyndon Ogbourne is greatly missed and played Nathan as a brilliant spineless villain.
Exciting times ahead with cast members coming and going!
