Emmerdale Spoilers: Debbie Dingle - Guilty or Not Guilty?
Mon 17 Dec 2018: As anxious Debbie Dingle leaves for court the Dingles are hopeful she will return, but there’s a sense that none of them believe it.

The jury is out on Debbie Dingle as she is in court for her part in the acid attack on Ross Barton but will she finally be made to serve time in prison for her actions or will she get off and spend Christmas with her kids?

Actress Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle, told Inside Soap magazine: “The night of the acid attack has haunted Debbie since it happened, and she still feels sick about it. She’s prepared for the fact that the judge might make an example of her, and is worried that she’ll receive a custodial sentence. So when Debbie is waving goodbye to her family before the hearing, she knows that is could be for a very long time.”

As an anxious Debbie leaves for court, the Dingles are hopeful she will return, but there’s a sense that none of them believe it.

Faith in particular is trying to put a positive spin on it, and insists that Debbie will be back with them later that evening,” adds Charley. “Yet Debbie knows that underneath the bravado, her family is worried for her too. The Dingles don’t have much confidence in the justice system.”

There are some fans who feel that it is about time Debbie paid for her actions, always seeming to get away with things rather than taking responsibility.

“Debbie has been so strong, although the past few years have dealt her some really tough cards,” pleads Charley. “She’s gone from all that drama with Cameron Murray (Debbie’s boyfriend turned serial killer) to falling in love with double-crossing Joe Tate! Just when she thought they had a future, he left her on their wedding day, which was absolutely horrendous. She has also had Sarah’s illness to cope with too, and there’s been a lot of pressure, Honestly, after all of that, I think prison would break Debbie.”

Mon 17 Dec 2018: A weary Sarah Sugden prepares to hurl a stone through a window at Home Farm but is stopped when Faith Dingle grabs her wrist.

Viewers won’t get to see what happens inside the court room, which is unusual given how big the acid attack storyline was, so they will only know the outcome if and when Debbie returns home. But while we’re waiting, Debbie’s daughter Sarah decides to get some revenge of her own.

Blaming Joe and Graham for what’s happening to them, Sarah decides to get revenge and prepares to hurl a stone through a window at Home Farm but is stopped when Faith grabs her wrist. Faith feels for Sarah as she becomes emotional about her mum. They then break into Home Farm and Faith has an idea for revenge.

:I think that it would make Debbie laugh to know what they get up to,” Charley laughs. “Sarah and Faith have a great bond, don’t they? In some ways, Debbie is actually okay leaving for court knowing that Sarah is safe under Faith’s guidance – however bonkers her nan can be!”

Emmerdale is on ITV every week night at 7pm.
