Things haven’t been going too well for Tracy Metcalfe – blackmail by creepy Phil, cheated on by her husband David, resulting in the end of their marriage. Set for a new start once Phil is put behind bars, Tracy is trying to look to the future but what starts as an online troll seems to want to make life even harder. Actress Amy Walsh explains…
It’s time for Tracy Metcalfe to have her day in court but if that wasn’t enough to deal with, she also has a nasty troll targeting her. “Tracy gets an abusive letter in the post,” actress Amy Walsh tells Soaplife and Inside Soap, “and she is getting horrible texts. She knows it’s something to do with Phil, but doesn’t know who’s behind it all.”
Tracy catches her troll in the act when she pops out to buy wine for her dad’s birthday…
She sees a young girl spray painting a message on David’s house. She assumes she’s just a kid messing about, playing truant, but then she notices that she’s written some awful things and has called Tracy a whore. She is rattled.
So does she know who the girl is?
You’ll have to wait and see!
Does this discovery put doubts in Tracy’s mind about going through with the charges against Phil?
“No. She wants to protect vulnerable women and hopes this will justify all the negative things she has been through. It will mean a lot to know something good has come out of it.”
What is Tracy hoping to get from Phil’s sentencing?
She wants justice, and she wants to make sure that he’s not able to do that to anyone else. When it comes out that there’s another woman who’s stepped forward to say he did the same thing, it gives Tracy the strength to forge ahead with the court case. She gets quite passionate about protecting vulnerable women.
Is Tracy surprised when Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) offers her some support?
Yes, I think she’s quite shocked. At the time she doesn’t know anything about Charity’s past, so it does seem odd that she’s so emotional. But I don’t think Tracy is suspicious or anything – she’s moved by how supportive Charity is
How are things between Tracy and David?
It is difficult as the one person Tracy wants there when she’s in court is her husband David (Matthew Wolfenden). She also has to explain why his front door has been spray-painted with graffiti. But when he suggests going to the hearing to support her, but she asks him not to. It’s quite sad really. She says: “No, its fine, my sister and my dad are coming with me.” It’s pretty sad, and quite emotional really.
How do you think Tracy is coping with everything?
She is okay, she is stronger than you might think. When you are going through an awful time, distraction is better than anything. She is a powerful, strong woman.
What’s in store for Tracy Metcalfe?
I want her to find happiness or love again, but I also like the broken side of Tracy and part of me wants to see her go into self-destruct again. It would be interesting to see her be single for a bit and see what that brings. I would love her and David to work it out, that is the romantic in me. I do enjoy the emotional storylines and I love it when someone tweets that I made them cry.
