Trouble for Emmerdale’s Rhona and Pete ?
One villager in need of Emmerdale’s ‘Big Night Out’ is Rhona Goskirk but could her night on the tiles mean trouble for Rhona and Pete? Actress Zoe Henry explains…
Rhona Goskirk has had a very rough start to 2019 – with her accident and hysterectomy, resulting in early onset of the menopause. So when she gets the chance to cut loose with the ‘cool kids’ she goes for it – but will her actions cost her more than she realises.
Hurt that Rhona has been secretly helping Kim Tate find Jamie, Pete Barton innocently confides in his ex Debbie Dingle. As he leaves Keeper’s Cottage, Rhona’s gutted to see him being friendly with Jack and Sarah from across the street.
Her jealousy gets the better of her and she snaps at Pete, soon they make up and seem to put the matter to rest – but when she discovers that Pete told Debbie about her menopause, she feels furious and humiliated.
Determined to prove she’s still young at heart, a touchy Rhona goes clubbing with the other villagers and has one too many drinks. Actress Zoe Henry explains…
Rhona goes on the big night out. Tell us why she decides to go.
“Rhona gets swept along on the night out by accident. The girls are talking about going on a night out in the pub and because Debbie is there and as Rhona is feeling jealous and vulnerable about Debbie’s relationship with Pete, she brazens it out and goes ‘Yeah, yeah, I’ll come out, I’ll come along’ not really thinking it through.
“As Rhona is not yet over her operation, she’s not in the right frame of mind. She is out of practice, she feels too old. So all those boxes are ticked!
“However in spite of all this, she does go. And she does have a great night. She ends up hanging out with Bernice and Kerry. They have an absolute scream and they meet some other people and it kind of goes on from there…”
How did you find filming at the nightclub?
“Location filming is always good fun to do, but nightclubs, during the day, not so fun. They are generally sticky and smelly, but at least they don’t smell of smoke anymore! It is bizarre being in a club during the day. So when we were shooting inside this dark club you feel like a hermit when you go out. As they open the doors and it’s still daylight and you’ve got into the mindset of it being night.
“The night time stuff is equally weird as you get home and you go to bed and it is 6.30 in the morning and your kids are just getting up. So it’s all a bit topsy turvy and upside down! But great fun and I was with some great actors, Laura, and Sam were utterly hilarious and they have got some brilliant dance moves to show the world.”
See part one of Emmerdale’s Big Night Out starting week commencing 20th April, with the second part revealed starting 6th May.
