Emmerdale Schedule Changes due to Coronvius Pandemic

Emmerdale has announced more schedule changes following the announcement that production will cease due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Emmerdale News: More schedule changes for Emmerdale as production closes

Following ITV’s announcement yesterday that production on Emmerdale and fellow soap Coronation Street would cease as of today, further schedule changes have now been revealed.

Viewers had previously been told that Emmerdale would reduce to five episodes per week commencing from Monday 30th March. However, due to the closure of production, the Yorkshire soap will now only air three episodes a week from that date.

Emmerdale will be on screen on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm, with episodes of Coronation Street airing straight after at 7.30pm.

This will allow the show to stay on screen longer as it is not possible to know when the Emmerdale cast and crew will be able to return to filming given the global pandemic.

Emmerdale had reminded viewers the these schedule changes would mean that what was shown on screen would not always coincide with real life events.

Posting on social media, Emmerdale said: “In the coming weeks some episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale will understandably be out of kilter due to the temporary transmission pattern for both programmes which takes effect from Monday 30 March.

“Episodes due to broadcast at Easter and those commissioned and filmed to commemorate VE Day, for instance, won’t now air on the dates we’d anticipated. We’d hope the audience will understand the reasons for this and continue to enjoy the shows.

“Additionally, as both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are filmed many weeks before they air on TV, episodes will continue to feature scenes set in the Rovers and Woolpack and other communal areas. Although the government’s latest guidelines indicate that people should avoid such public spaces, we’d ask viewers to make allowances for the fact filming took place before the Coronavirus pandemic and to make sure they follow the most recent government advice.”

Emmerdale will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm on ITV from Monday 30th March 2020.
