Emmerdale Actor Sacked after Fight at Awards!

Emmerdale actor Asan N’Jie, who plays Ellis Chapman, has been sacked with immediate effect by ITV after a huge bust-up at the TV Choice Awards after party.

Emmerdale News: Asan N'Jie sacked after TV Choice Awards Bust UpAsan N’Jie, who was shortlisted in the awards for Best Soap Newcomer for his role as Ellie Chapman, has seen his contract terminated following a vicious row with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards after party.

In a statement, ITV spokesperson said: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night. ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”

Asan, who joined Emmerdale in 2018, added: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character. I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards. I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”

Pictures and videos emerged from the party showing Asan to be shouting abuse at Jamie Lomas, brother of Asan’s co-star Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle).

It has been reported that Asan made an inappropriate sarcastic remark that started the fracas. The pair had to be pulled apart by security officers at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel.

Asan then threatened Jamie, even saying ‘he would knife him’. He can be seen throwing a punch during an explosive fight in front of shocked onlookers, including fellow celebrities who were forced to dodge out of the way of the expletive-filled exchange.

A recent Emmerdale storyline saw Asan’s character Ellis Chapman stabbed. Speaking to Digital Spy about the plotline in May, Asan admitted he was ‘extremely grateful to the writers and the producers for trusting me with this.’

He added: “I’m glad we’re exploring it. Especially in London, the knife crime rate is through the roof at the minute. So to explore a sensitive issue like this can only be a positive thing. If we put light onto these issues, hopefully the quicker it will stop.”

On-screen, Ellis Chapman’s father Al has just arrived and his mother Jessie is soon to depart, as actress Sandra Marvin leaves the show.
