Actress Gaynor Faye, best known to Emmerdale fans as Megan Macey, has revealed she will star in the new stage play of the TV drama Band of Gold following her departure from the ITV soap.
She’s not left Emmerdale yet but actress Gaynor Faye, currently starring as Megan Macey, has already lined up her next role in the World premiere production of the nail-biting, murderous thriller Band of Gold, written by her mother Kay Mellor.
Gaynor revealed she had decided to quit her role in Emmerdale in an exclusive with OK magazine earlier in the year. Most fans assumed her exit would relate to her character Megan Macey’s conviction for causing an accident while using her mobile. However, Megan was given community service rather than a custodial sentence.
Announcing her new role on Twitter, Gaynor said: “It’s finally out there & I’m beyond thrilled to tell you that I’m going to be appearing in the World Premiere of @ I missed out on a part in the TV show so wasn’t going to miss this one…can’t wait for you all to see it. Opens @ this Winter! xxx”

Following the huge, sell-out success of Fat Friends The Musical, Kay Mellor brings the multi-award winning TV series Band of Gold to the stage.
Band of Gold was the ground-breaking crime drama that captivated over 15 million viewers each week when it aired on ITV, revolving around a group of women – Carol, Rose, Anita and Gina – as they battle to survive whilst working in Bradford’s red-light district.
Gaynor will be joined by fellow soap stars Laurie Brett, (EastEnders, Waterloo Road, Les Miserables), Kieron Richardson, (Hollyoaks, Heartbeat), Shayne Ward, (Coronation Street, Rock Of Ages, X Factor winner) and Sacha Parkinson (Mr Selfridge, The Mill).
“I get asked once a day if I’m going to bring Band of Gold back.” says award-winning writer and director Kay Mellor: “My answer will now be yes, on stage, and after the amazing response we had to Fat Friends here, I’m thrilled that the world premiere production of Band Of Gold will be coming to Nottingham.”
Don’t miss your chance to be one of the first to see the world premiere tour of Kay Mellor’s incredible, thrilling new play. The new stage adaptation will run at the Leeds Grand from 28 November to 14 December 2019 before embarking on a national tour.
