After six years on Emmerdale, actor Anthony Quinlan who plays Pete Barton has quit the ITV soap according to The Sun.
Anthony Quinlan is the latest in what is becoming a long list of actors to quit Emmerdale, leaving his role of farmhand Pete Barton after six years in the Dales according to The Sun.
A source told them: “Anthony has loved his time on Emmerdale but he is really keen to try and make a name for himself away from just soaps, and is looking at auditions.
“He says he would be up for doing a reality show too, like the jungle or Strictly, but with a full-on filming schedule for Emmerdale that’s quite tricky.”
The newspaper also teased that like many of his on-sreen family members, Anthony’s character Pete would leave the Dales in a coffin although nothing has been confirmed by the ITV soap.
Pete’s mum Emma, played by Gillian Kearney, and dad James, played by Bill Ward, were both killed off along with younger brother Finn, played by Joe Gill.
Michael Parr, who played his brother Ross, and Adam Thomas, who was his half-brother Adam, left Emmerdale to pursue other roles.
Anthony Quinlan, who starred in Hollyoaks before joining Emmerdale, has been filming a new short film recently called Gaslight, and new head shots went up on his social media channels so it didn’t come as too much of a shock to fans.
On-screen, since his brother’s departure, Pete has recently split with Rhona Goskirk, which was a surprise pairing that won the hearts of fans. Since their split, Pete has faded into the background again but is about to come to the fore when he becomes involved in Cain and Moira’s relationship and Moira’s cheating with fellow farmhand Nate Robinson.
Given Pete’s also got it on with ‘Auntie Moira’ before, he knows better than anyone that it never ends well.
Anthony Quinlan is the latest in what is becoming a long list of departures in 2019 with Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden), Gaynor Faye (Megan Macey) and Samantha Giles (Bernice Blackstock) all leaving the Dales for pastures new.
