Emmerdale stars danced the night away in ‘Strictly’ style competition for cancer charity Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Oldham.
Five members of the Emmerdale cast took part in a Strictly Come Dancing style competition in aid of cancer charity Dr Kershaw’s Hospice on Saturday evening with actress Amy Walsh aka Tracy Metcalfe winning the judge’s trophy.
Amy, who performed a Samba and a Waltz with professional partner Rhys, was joined by last year’s winner Samantha Giles (Bernice Blackstock) who danced the Tango and Cha Cha Cha with pro Jack, and Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) who joined pro Paul for a Tango and a Cha Cha Cha.
It wasn’t just the ladies who were dancing, Joe Warren-Plant (Jacob Gallagher) danced a Paso Doble and a Cha Cha Cha with professional dancer Abby, while co-star Michael Pread (Frank Clayton) performed a Rumba and a Quickstep with pro Jodie.
The event was also hosted by Emmerdale legend Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard) and last year’s contestant turned presenter Liam Fox (Dan Spencer).
The star-studded extravaganza was the dying wish of former patient Russ Burns, from High Crompton, who passed away at the hospice last year.
Russ, aged 65, who had multiple myeloma, told his wife June just days before he died she had to raise funds for the hospice in recognition of the excellent treatment he received from Kershaw’s At Home Service and as an inpatient
With various raffles and unique auction items sold on the night, the total amount raised is still to be announced but for more information on Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and how you can support the charity, visit https://www.drkershawshospice.org.uk
