Emmerdale’s Danny Miller Charity Walk for Once Upon a Smile
Danny Miller has revealed he is to undertake a gruelling 40 mile walk from Stockport to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, to raise much needed funds for his charity Once Upon a Smile.
Actor Danny Miller, best known as Emmerdale fan favourite Aaron Dingle, took to his social media platforms to launch a 40mile walk from his house in Stockport to Liverpool Football Club‘s home ground at Anfield, Liverpool, on Wednesday 22nd July.
“Since lockdown was announced on the 23rd March 2020, it has been an extremely difficult time for charities, especially smaller charities, such as ours.
“As a self-funded charity, we rely heavily on the fundraising events that we as a charity, our supporters and corporate supporters plan and run throughout the year. The slow realisation that most of our fundraising year is now non-existent is a difficult and worrying time.
“The Grand Ball 2020, our biggest single fundraising event of the year was due to take place in April, has been postponed until later in the year. We are actively working hard on this event and will update all attendees as soon as possible.
“It is with regret that we have made the decision that all charity football matches, a constant fixture in our fundraising calendar, are to be postponed until 2021. This is a decision we have not taken lightly but we must prioritise the safety of those taking part and attending.
“In the first 2 weeks of May alone, we had 21 children referred to Once Upon a Smile for bereavement support in the Manchester area. We anticipate a further increase in referrals to our charity over the coming months.
“We have always prided ourselves on being a charity based upon solid infrastructure, even in the current circumstances, rest assured, we will continue to support our families, continue to tailor our support to their needs and continue to ensure we are here for long term support for bereaved families.
“This challenge will hopefully help fill those much needed funds. With your help. #40milesFor30Years ??”
Within minutes the donations started flooding into his just giving page, with over 60% of Danny’s target of £5,000 raised within 12 hours.
Danny was joined on an Instagram live broadcast by former Coronation Street star and good pal Ryan Thomas, who pledged to join him on the walk. Danny also added that there may be a few more familiar faces joining him on the charity walk that could take around 13.5 hours to cover the 38miles according to a map he posted.
