Emmerdale News: At the end of tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, it was revealed that script writer Helen Childs, who had penned the episode for Tuesday 27th February had died. Ahead of the closing credits, a statement read ‘In loving memory of Helen Childs. Emmerdale Writer.’
Writer Helen Childs, believed to have been in her mid-40s, had worked on Emmerdale since 2013 and wrote a total of 31 episodes during her time with the ITV soap. She died of a sudden illness just over a week ago.
Having also worked on the Channel 5 series Family Affairs, Helen was no stranger to soap and serial drama. She was also part of the team on ITV’s Footballers Wives and had done an episode of The Bill in 2002.
According to her IMDB page, Helen had also worked as a makeup assistant as well as a script associate and storyliner over the course of her career. Her LinkedIn page also revealed, Helen graduated in Psychodynamic Counselling, and worked as a freelance journalist and feature writer.
Tonight’s episode saw Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) discuss the future of their unborn child, with Paddy revealing that he wanted to keep the baby while Chas explained her fears for having the child.
Helen’s other episodes included Rakesh Kotecha (Pasha Bocarie) switching Vanessa Woodfield’s (michele Hardwick) DNA results for baby Jonny so his son Kirin (Adam Fielding), Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) paying youngster Ryan (George Samson) to be a false witness in the case against Gordon Livesy (Gary Mavers), and Emma Barton’s (Gillian Kearney) hallucinations of her late husband James (Bill Ward) at Wylie’s Farm.
