The voting of Emmerdale fans has paid off as the shortlist of nominees for this year’s TV Choice Awards has been revealed with the dales in the running with five nominations.
After missing out on the British Soap Awards, both Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle) and Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) have made the Best Soap Actress and Actor categories respectively in the TV Choice Awards short list.
Ned Porteous (Joe Tate) and Andrew Scarborough (Graham Foster), one time Best Partnership hopefuls, are now in competition for the Best Newcomer category.
Of course Emmerdale is included in the race for Best Soap along with Coronation Street, who received six nominations in total, Eastenders with four nods, and Hollyoaks which surprisingly given its award haul at the BSAs, only received one nomination.
Last year, Emmerdale scored a clean sweep at these awards, with cast members Ryan Hawley, Charlotte Bellamy (Laurel Thomas) and Sally Dexter (Faith Dingle) all receiving individual awards along with the Best Soap category. Can Ryan and Emmerdale make it two years in a row?
Voting is now open until midnight on Friday 6th July. The TV Choice awards are held at The Dorchester, Park Lane on Monday 10 September.
