Emmerdale scored a hat trick at this year’s Inside Soap Awards by winning the coveted Best Soap accolade for the third year running. The Dales picked up eight awards in total including Best Actor for Danny Miller who plays Aaron Dingle, Best Show Stopper for the 2017 Hotten Bypass Crash and Best Exit for John Middleton who played Ashley Thomas.

Also amongst the Emmerdale winners at the Inside Soap Awards were Gillian Kearney, who played the recently murdered Emma Barton, winning Best Bad Girl, and Dominic Brunt aka vet Paddy Kirk who was named Funniest Male. Best Young Actor when to the very deserving Alfie Clarke who plays Arthur Thomas.

Natalie J Robb who plays feisty farmer Moira Dingle was named Sexiest Female.

While Emmerdale left with its plethora of awards, Coronation Street celebrated with five – one of which included Best Actress for Lucy Fallon.

EastEnders received two awards – Sexiest Male for Strictly star Davood Ghadami (Kush Kazemi) and the Outstanding Achievement Award for Gillian Taylforth who plays Kathy Beale.

There was only one award for Hollyoaks in the form of Best Partnership for Lysette Anthony and Nicole Barber-Lane, while Doctors won its first-ever Inside Soap Award as Lorna Laidlaw was named Best Daytime Star.

Editor of Inside Soap, Steven Murphy, said: “This has been one of the biggest battles the Inside Soap Awards have ever seen.

“There have been some brilliant storylines this year and some fantastic performances, all of which have had the nation gripped. As Inside Soap – Britain’s original and best soap magazine – we are honoured to be handing out the trophies to these amazing winners.”
