Emmerdale is the Best Soap!!
Emmerdale was voted Best Soap by fans in this year’s TV Choice Awards
All the major soaps got to take home a trophy from this year’s TV Choice Awards but it was Emmerdale who won the coveted Best Soap title. Having previously won the accolade in 2017, Judge Rob Rinder presented the award to the attending cast at a star studded ceremony in London.
EastEnders won two of the four soap categories, with Danny Dyer being named Best Actor for the second year running, beating both Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) and Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle). Young actress Kara Leah Fernandes was awarded Best Newcomer, with both Asan N’Jie (Ellis Chapman) and Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy Wyatt) on the shortlist.
Coronation Street’s Alison King was voted as Best Actress, with Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins being shortlisted for the first time.
Emmerdale storylines over the past year include Maya Stepney’s grooming of teenager Jacob Gallagher, Victoria Barton’s rape and Frank Clayton’s death after the factory fire.
Once again, Emmerdale is building up as we head into the autumn with the return of Mandy Dingle, Moira and Nate’s affair being revealed, and the departure of Robert Sugden.
